With the debates, each candidate does extensive research on the other, and asks pertinent questions. The IEA debates must be encouraged and translated in the local language for all to understand.

Akufo-Addo didn't win because of any sterling qualities he brought to the table. If he had those qualities, he would have won in at least one of his previous two attempts.
This time around, Akufo-Addo could have won even if he had attended the IEA debates and talked as well on Peace FM. The people were just fed up with NDC. That was why Akufo-Addo won.
If after four years the people are fed up with Akufo-Addo and NPP, they will vote them out even if Akufo sleeps in the studios of PeaceFM
The IEA needs not go away but can be around alongside other means of reaching the voting public. The one does not preclude the other. The middle class in Ghana is growing by the day...

I disagree with you that the IEA debate is irrelevant. The educated influence the illiterate as well since many illiterates look up to them and listen to the reason for their preference. Where l am the masons, carpenters, plumbers and electricians all demand that l explain to them why l support my chosen party. I suggest two debates IEA one and the radio station type be conducted to provide a platform for all presidential candidates to reach out to both the literate and the illiterate voters. Mind you if they neglect the literate minority it can equally cost them the election. Nana's victory was necessary for the literate who saw the reckless borrowing and expenditure by the Mahama administration that got us into the current economic mess as destructive and lead a massive campaign to oust the previous administration. IEA can never die. Candidates must be compelled to attend presidential debates.
