  Otherwise, why would they look at a river and deliberately destroy it? Ofr a farmland on whuichcocoa or food crops are growig,and excavate the soil from underneath the plants that so vakuabe economically?

  How on earth do you threaten our beloved president? This is pure madness.
  Threats will not work in this case, and they are not stronger than the State Security apparatus.
  The Asantehene is not somebody who will support madness so don't bring him into this at all.
  I do not support the banning of small scale mining but the system should be sanitised.
  I have this suggestion for its sanitisation.
  Before anybody big or small scale mining is given a license to operate the following conditions must be satisfied:
  1. A bond thrice the cost of the estimated cost of reclamation of the land to be degraded must be lodged with the Bank of Ghana. The estimated cost must cover the cost of reclamation of the land and the cost of planting economical trees on the land till they are fully grown.
  2. Every small scale mining company, after getting the necessary permits from the appropriate government agencies, must be registered with these bodies in the District in which they are operating:
  a. The District Administration.
  b. The Police Administration.
  c. The District of the Mineral commission.
  d. The chief of the land on which the small scale operation will be done.
  Without the participation of these four groups of people, no galamsey can go on in this country.
  
  If anybody is found operating without the registration with these four groups of people then he is obviously doing galamsey.
  
  In addition no small scale mining company must be allowed to use any river but they must all sink boreholes for their operations and recycle the water for their operations.
  All small scale mining companies must have a Mining Engineer as well as Environmental officers before they are given license to operate.
  
  If at the end of their operations they reclaim the land and plant economic trees then they can go and redeem their bond from the Bank of Ghana with a letter for the four groups of people who registered them before they were allowed to operate.
  if they fail to reclaim the land they lose the bond they put at the Bank of Ghana and the government can use that money to reclaim the land and plant economic trees on the land, and after that they must lose the balance for negating on the conditions of their registration.
  No foreign company must be allowed to operate as supporting staff.
  The small scale mining must be exclusive to Ghanaian companies only.
  
  If any galamsey is found in any part of the country the DCE, the Police Commander of the District and the District officer of the Mineral commission on the area must be fired and the cost of reclamation must be paid for from the end of service benefits of these three government officials.
  
  In addition these officers must be given jail terms of not less than five years for abating criminal activities.
  The chief on whose land the small scale went on must also be jailed for five years.
  All the Directors of the Company who mined without fulfilling the above conditions must each be jailed for a period of not less than ten years. Any worker who works with the galamsey company must also be given a minimum of five years.
