  Very much plaudits to our President, but we must stop rasping our balls with excitement for his initiative in reviving this white elephant, ECOWAS, because it is definitely an exercise in futility - a complete waste of time and resources.
  
  Since its inception in 1975 and with a sole purpose of fostering free trade among its 15 member states, only 13% trade flows through member states after 42 years compared with 89% in the EU. Most of the Francophonie states' export go to EU and China, even though there is ECOWAS parliament that oversee trade relations among member countries.
  
  And if our President think the Francophonie states in ECOWAS will abandon their CFA franc currency and integrate their economies into the proposed ECOWAS currency, the eco, he must think again.
  
  ECOWAS like many other African regional organizations is a white elephant, and what President Akufo-Addo should do is throw down the gauntlet and force the 15 members to respect all the declarations of ECOWAS , or get the hell out from the loose bummer. What is the purpose of an organization if members have no use for its tenet?
