  A serious president who has pressing duties to do to redeem a nation he has told us is in the doldrums will have no time going about collecting ceremonial titles.
  
  Akufo-Addo should have had the guts to say no to any such offers of titles. There is no law against his receiving them which is why it will be a sign of seriousness if he publicly declares that nobody should be offering him such titles.
  
  He has become president to improve the lot of Ghanaians not to enjoy the adulation and fanfoo respect of the populace.
  
  Our people are stupid. A serving president should NEVER be given such honours. He can get them AFTER his tenure for work done.
  
  Mahama's government wasn't doing well. But I don't think Ghanaians have voted for anything better.

  As Francis Kwarteng asks, how legal, fair, democratic, and normal, etc., is it for the President of Ghana to allow him/herself to be enstooled/enskined as a chief of any "clan" of people smaller than the People of Ghana who, as a group, are the Sovereign?
  
  When Ghanaians demand that Chiefs should not be overtly partisan with respect to the national politics, how does the politician, the first among them, how does he/she justify his enstoolment in a small corner of Ghana, even if he/she is of the same people, even if she/he lived among them all his/her life?

  I am rather disappointed in some of the responses given to this article. This is why people have to pay thirty pesewas to use someone's fenced off area to urinate in the city center of the national capital while thousands of dollars are used to renovate the vice president's bungalow. He does not need a toilet in the city. The vendors are nonentities, children walk all day in the heat, while you ride in air conditioned cars. Perhaps, these people are simply ingratiating themselves by making him king so they can get crumbs, but tell them, they don't have to.
