At a gland of the caption, I was tempted to this Onipa Ba is one of the monikers of Francis Kwarteng. But after careful reading between the lines, I have discovered that the flair, the diction and the overall composition( not overly verbose) is a feet that Francis Kwarteng is yet to achieve. Good observation bro!

My friend, I like your comments which is partly true. And that is why aside of Ghana Shatta Wale is not known anywhere.
But my friend you goofed big time and you need to seek forgiveness from the gods of mother Africa for the attempt to denigrate Felas "Afro-Rock" style. It is sacrilidge what you have said about Felas style.
Felas music cuts across race and geneations. Listened from the Pacific, Asia, from the North to South Pole. The melody and beats are unique and even very difficult to copy. Even his own son Femi could not replicate his dads music.
Shatta Wale is trying to be Jamaican but honestly what he is doing any Jamaican Primary 6 school child can easily do.
That is why in Jamaica the only African musicians played in their clubs, and and on their radios are Nigerians the Davidos, P-Squares, Tiwa Savages, Pataronkings etc. Because they have a unique African Rythym and melody which appeals to their African instinct.
What Shatta Wale does is a lot of noise. That is why even along West Africa he is hardly known. But go to any club along the WestbVoasy and all you hear playing are the Nigerians.
But for Fela, boy I would pray for you at my shrine tonight ......

You are perfectly right Onipa Ba. Sometimes, apart from the lyrics, the rest, if not all is just a noise-making gimmick!

Shatta Wale has many songs cutting across different styles. hundreds of them. You wrote this essay after listening to how many of them? Fela had and still has bigger worldwide listenership than all the grandmasters of melody you mentioned. In any case if Fela didn't have melody and is still a legend, then what's your point? This piece is neither here nor there.
