  This person is nothing but a thug in uniform and should be kicked out the army. The rambling discourse written by the author shows his total lack of understanding the role of the army in a democratic society. Secondly, he is of the belief that the army is hamstrung because of its oversight by civilian authorities. He his begging his superiors to unleash the army uptown the town so soldiers can brutally assault any townsfolks in retaliation of the Maj. Mahama's barbaric lynching.

  I sympathize with your situation. But that is what democracy is all about. In absent of that it will be the law of the jungle. Take heart my dear soldier man. I thought the President could have posthumously awarded the captain a higher rank other than a Major since he has already qualified for that rank and about to be promoted to a Major before he was brutally murdered. I may be wrong. RIP my hero, Major Mahama. We love you. Your death has made many of us fall in love with the Ghana Armed Forces.

  The problem with Ghanaian soldiers is that they believe that the Constitution and the laws of the country don't apply to them. By implication, they are above the law. The writer of the article, presumably a soldier, speaks of "a whole captain." What is meant by a "whole captain?" Is a captain, and for that matter, any military officer superior to a medical doctor, a lawyer, policeman, civil servant or any other Ghanaian? Is the life of a person who wears a military uniform worth more than that of other Ghanaians? Government is doing all it can to honour the memory of the deceased soldier, and the machinery of the judicial process is already in motion. Therefore, why should soldiers be allowed to handle the matter relating to the death of a soldier "in our own way", as this soldier states in his article? What nonsense! What does this soldier want to do to the inhabitants of the village where the crime was committed? To be allowed to go and beat and kill them, as is the habit of Ghanaian soldiers? Ghanaian soldiers are renowned for their brutality towards civilians. We were all witnesses to the terror they unleashed upon Ghanaians during the bloodletting era of Rawlings the murderer. This bloodthirsty soldier wants those days back! How many civilians did you kill during Rawlings' era Mr soldier? How many more do you want to kill to assuage your thirst for the blood of civilians, Mr soldier? You are still living in the 1980s, hence you are totally unaware that soldiers can no longer kill civilians with impunity. Where was the last war you soldier participated in, Mr soldier? Like other soldiers in Ghana you demonstrate bravery only in the face of unarmed civilians? If war was not such an abominable phenomenon, one would pray that a war would erupt, for these soldiers who do not have much to do, apart from staging coups and terrorising civilians, to go and fight, to demonstrate their bravery. Give us a break, for soldiers do not deserve the respect or reverence of Ghanaians, with your history of brutality, as a guide.
