Ban on Lawyer for advertising is outmoded and unconstitutional

  Lawyer Akpalu, lawyer Xavier Sosu who l happen to admire appears not to have been banned just for sheer advertising of services (which for your information is allowed in Ghana).
  Lawyer Sosu from all indications was banned for the following:
  -Infraction of probity (taking advantage of a client by overcharging).
  -Innappropriate use of privileged attorney/client information (by using such named client privileged information on social media platforms as a form of advertising services).
  -Malfeascence (combination of the two above---
  Matters of infraction of probity and use of privileged client information as content in advertising services).
  These matters brought against lawyer Sosu, if true as is alleged by the Ghana legal council (legal regulatory body), are basic "legal professionalism and ethics 101" matters, in countries that matter.
  How come Ghanaian lawyers seem to be applying what l term "Ghana logic" to such important matters of professionalism and professional ethics? Where is the professional moral locus" of reference among Ghanaian professionals?
  Lastly a very basic tenent in ethics and law is that what is legal is not necessarily ethical and what is ethical is not necessarily legal.
  I am personally sorry for lawyer Sosu's predicament as l have had an admiration for him, however recouping the lost professionalism and moral centredness of Ghanaian lawyers has to start from somewhere. Unfortunately it may have just started with lawyer Sosu (going by the current discourse).

  Well, we need a Legal revolution in Ghana. Any wonder Judges are accepting snails, prostitutes, ram ++ as bribes?

  Though outmoded it remains part of the rules until it is repealed.It is well known fact that the cost of legal services has become outrageous due to these selfish practice methods of some lawyers.A deterrent punishment is OK.
