  The purpose ascribed to the levy is not practicable. I live in Tamale and travel to Accra, get a breakdown at Nsawam. Will my truck be towed to Tamale? Moreover I have my mechanic at Navrongo. Will my truck go to Navrongo (assuming I have money to pay for immediate repair)? If I don't have the money immediately, how does it get to Navrongo when funds are available? Do I hire another towing vehicle or my levy is still enough to tow to Navrongo? If not, won't it be prudent to just push it in the middle of the night and leave it on the street for it to be towed to Navrongo with my levy? How soon can this be practically done to be sure my broken down vehicle in the middle of the road does not cause any accidents?

  We don't have the money. The politicians who loot the coffers of the nation don't even pay much of what we pay. They are able to avoid road tolls for instance and I have seen a number of them.

  Its so simple if you buy a badly run-down car and its needs towing blame yourself, dont let anyone be responsible for that

  There has been accidents involving broken down vehicles left on the road. The purpose of towing away broke down is remove these hazards. As it is practised in many countries, drivers subscribe to motoring organisations and, whenever your vehicle breaks down you call them for rescue. If you don't belong to motoring organisation then the police will remove your vehicle. Normally, your vehicle is towed to the nearest repair garage or in case of motoring organisation member to the driver's home address. Towing broken down vehicles is not free. Why do Ghanaians want everything free?

  You are mistaking, Anokware. There is no where in the world where there is universal compulsory levy on every vehicle for the purpose of towing. You either subscribe voluntarily to your choice towing company, or your broken down vehicle is towed automatically and you are surcharged for the cost of the towing as an individual; and if you fail to pay to retrieve your vehicle withing a given period, it could be auctioned to defray the towing cost. So please don't come on this platform to expose your ignorance by supporting a very dubious "Create, Loot and Share" agenda. Just take a million vehicles in the country and strike an average of 50 cedis per vehicle, that will come up to 50 million cedis (fifty million cedis). How many vehicles will be towed in a year to reflect even 5 million cedis cost (Five million cedis)? What happens to the rest of the money? Remember that statistics at the National Road Safety Commission indicates that broken down vehicles account for only five percent (5%)of accidents in this country. We will surely resist this attempt at fleecing Ghanaians of our hard earned money for a few to enjoy without sweat. Never!!!
