  Nicely written article. But what kind of brains are required that we don't have? Please expatiate.
  It is not about the brains required, but rather the inability to recognize exactly, who our competition is, and how to channel that energy and brain power, to become what we ought to be. So whilst some are focused on becoming the best out there and at the top of the food chain, we have lost sight of the big picture and the higher purpose and made it a competition amongst ourselves, whilst sustaining the system of being bottom feeders as designed. Have you heard of the paradox of the five monkeys in the cage? That essentially sums up the state of our affairs. The brains we have got if only we could focus on the big picture and higher purpose.

  The answer to your question is that we do have brains BUT we're too lazy to apply ourselves unless ridden like obedient donkeys by foreigners! Otherwise, how come Ghanaians like the rest of us can strive to the top in foreign lands and our own Kofi Anan can can rise up to head the UN but back home we're struggling to drive forward our own development? The answer is simply our servant mentality whereby we are ready to rush to political rallies in our hundreds or even thousands to cheer and support mediocrity by re-electing clearly incompetent or non performing MPs and sheepishly follow ostensibly corrupt public officials? In a way we are the architects of our own demise! A revolution of our discredited mind set which expects something for nothing and become go getters more attuned to achieving the best for Ghana in return for honour and satisfaction of personal achievement and not just monetary reward is what will save us! God bless and help Ghana.

  The bottomline in all the flimsy examples being cited and cursory excuses being expounded rather go to confirm the notion "we don't have the brains". Brains are acquired, nurtured, and developed !!!. When President Mills, an accomplished professor would appoint a fresh graduate from legon with a suspended degree as a minister of higher education with Vice Chancellors reporting to him, you can bet we don't have brains. Or think about President Mahama converting technical schools (which barely functioned) overnight into Technical Universities for political expediency, and "lecturers" being redesignated as "vice chancelors" for their selfish personal advancement.

  all other people are competing to be called a super power but we're competing amongst ourselves. no national ideology. the psychology of supremacy is nil , most of our fellow country men and women are walking with self-defeating doctrines. in fact our trusted leaders are controlled by external controllers. our front is broken into pieces through tribalism, politics and religion. and the worst is we have not directed our educational system especially university and technical education in to producing people who can act on our resources well to bring about development, the number of pastors and imams in Ghana is over 100x the number of engineers. we also failed to apply laws uniformly and severely including punishing people for being incompetent . followers of political office holders will defend them when there's corruption charges against them.

  The black man's brain is not matured,the opportunities are around us but we still can't see. imagine billions of dollars is stolen by our public servants to foreign banks and it has been going on for the past 60 years and it's still going on and even worst.These are educated elites destroying their own people and country, so where is the brain?. Others have used the brain to help their country and people out of ignorance,misery and have given millions of their people hope.
