Materialism has gradually crept into the church and the way some pastors crave for money nowadays is very amazing. I used to attend church at a branch of Winners Chapel International in my locality. The resident pastor and his associate pastors mount the pulpit after gulping energy drinks. All they do is scream into the microphone and the sound they generate is enough to blow the ear drums of a nanny elephant yet these chaps always think it is their unholy noise that will wake Jesus up from his 'slumber'. The other time, after harvesting some few bags of grains from my farm, I doled out one bag to be given to widows of my assembly. The pastor took custody of the food stuff and the next Sunday preached a sermon about tithing where he claimed that some members are not faithful tithers and instead of paying tithe in full, they use part of the money to buy food stuff for some widows to show everybody that they are more righteous. I quickly drew the attention of an elder to inform the pastor that the food stuff is a produce from my farm. The following Sunday, the pastor preached another sermon on prosperity where he claimed that none of his members is poor and so if any body has any gift for any member of his church they should send it elsewhere. This shocked me to the Marrow because I often see congregants and widows of this church always struggling to make ends meet even to the extent picking and gathering stones and waiting for days to solicit for potential buyers before they could sell one head pan of stones. Till date I don't know if the church has distributed the food to the widows. Is this Christianity?

A little plea: try to write in plain, simple and easy to understand language. You will reach a lot more people that way. I'm afraid that much of what you've written is beyond many of the people you seek to reach.

It is now charactistic of pastors,prophets, bishops etc of the church to now make the church "market place" for profiteering instead of "my Father's House shall be called a house of prayer" which "you people have turned into a den for thieves." The church of today need Jesus' visit to drive away the "money changers" and establish the true worship. Men of God are preying on the ignorance of their teeming members to deceive them with petty "signs and wonders or miracles" due to economic hardships and many times self inflicted problems which people are equally,receiving,chastisement or punishment for their misdeeds. These days you have to concour some gimmicks in your church or go for some powers from some juju men or India to sell your spiritual ware. Lavenders, anointing water, fan, sticker, handkerchief, anointing oil, spit, sand from the feet of MOG are spiritual wares that sell fast. Giving of lottery numbers, visas, porch cars, babies, husbands, wives, travels, healing etc, are some of the benefits of going to church. Salvation, righteous and holy living, commitment to things of God are placed in the periphery of the church. Oh Lord save us from these wolves clothed in sheep skin.

I ask myself, if you felt dissatisfied with these churches and felt led to start one, on what principle are you going to lead the church?

I understand and know where you are coming from. I have read in some forum how people have decided to quit prominent mainstream churches and meet in home settings as families due to the very issues you have raised here.

The whole true gospel is JESUS CHRIST.
Any other message is besides this name is idolatry.
