The NLC coup detonated the destructive

"The security agencies must be asked to furnish the government with accurate reports about the “state-of-play” in each galamsey district and region, before the military and the police are deployed there in large numbers." - Cameron Duodu
Is this the prescribed solution for the fight against galamsey, Mr. Duodu? Mr. Duodu do you believe the security agencies do not know the active galamsey sites and the personalities involved? Give me a break Sir! The problem we have in that godforsaken country is respect of our laws.
We elect legislators to Parliament and pay them big salaries every month to make laws. There are Environmental laws on the books and all Akufo-Addo must do is crack the whip, or let the axe fall where it may. We do not need long discombobulated speeches. Enough of that from this President.
Let me repeat one more time; Akufo-Addo is all talk and no substance. Ghanaians did not elect him just to give speeches - they elected him to act decisively with the power vested in his office, and Sir, your prescription for curbing the menace of galamsey is too Ghana centred; it will never work in 'ny3bro' Ghana. If the lackadaisical and whimsical Akufo-Addo means business in the fight against galamsey, then the IGP Apeatu is not the man. Mr. Apeatu is too connected in Ghana's ny3bro culture to be effective.

We can't go and hire one from outside to come and do it for us. Akufo Addo WILL end galamsey. By force. But he wants the chefs on board. All Duodu is saying is: don;t trust the chiefs, Nana. Get information abut them and threaten those who are on the side of galamsey. If the Govt would but listen, a solution would begin to be fund. After all, which chief wants to have government recognition withdrawn from him? Who wan die, my friend?

Can Cameron Duodu alone bring back the pre-1966 years? If not, why not leave him alone to contribute what he cab to solving the problems of 2017 and beyond?
It s such asinine attitudes as espoused in this thread that have made the CPP irrelevant today. Poor dumb unrepentant ideologues filled with hatred.
Mr Duodu is entitled to his opinions, right or wrong. If you don't agree with him, ell us the REASONS for your ooinion but don't tell us he has no right to express his own.

What did his pal Mandela do? He did engage in "dialogue" with his oppressors!
We are 2017, and a NATO member Turkey has a president who is allocating to himself by all means necessary, autocratic powers just like Nkrumah did in 1960!
Circumstances, most often, dictate the adequate security measures required to keep a nation from implosion!
That is VISIONARY and PRAGMATIC!

The Busia dialogue idea was to engage in dialogue between independent African states and apartheid South Africa behind the backs of the black South Africans. That's why it was opposed by true patriots like Cameron Duodu. What sort of deal could the like of Houphouet-Boigny have got fr the back South Africans? "They [apartheid rulers] must talk to their owm fellow citizens [blacks] if they want "dialogue" said Cameron Duodu and other Pan-Africanists. And eventually, when the white businessmen realised the folly of ignoring their own blacks, they engaged in direct talks with the backs without a single independent African state present. And it worked.
Mandela became President. You cannot admire the clear thinking that brought that revolution about? ad Busia, Boigny, Banda etc had their way, they would have sold the rights of the back South Africans for what Cameron Duodu described, if I remember correctly, as "blood money".
Pragmatism my foot! The guy was advocating the realpolik you don't understand but toss about n your comment Talah!

Agreed. Some people behave as if human thought is fossilised and cannot be modified or change. To stick to the rigidities of the past and bring them up ALWAYS to defeat proposals meant to deal with the realities of today, is backward thinking indeed. Too depressing for words. Can't people just see ideas for what they are, objectively, without necessarily relating them to the subjective propensities of the individual making the point?
