  Wrong information and misleading in the body of the article and the title or headline is fantatic.Becoming rich or poor nation is a choice and not privilege.Nkrumah set Ghana on industrial path until he was removed by coup detat and Ghana still has working industries until Rawlings came to power and collapse majority of our industries and sold them to foreigners and confiscate private own businesses and sold them and share the lucrative industries to NDC members and to his wife.Secondly,our mentality of everything made in Ghana is inferior and low quality and preference and taste of addiction to foreign goods or products is our problem that make us poor.Moreover,appointees and politicians who has made their mind that they don't care a hoot about government jobs and is there to loot for becoming rich in one day and awarding contracts to foreigners and abandon locals is the reason why we are poor.Rawlings came to make Ghana poor and loot most of our money.

  Rich nations are led by smart and intelligent people, and poor nations by morally bankrupt and stupid people. Premising your analysis of rich and poor nations on industrial revolutions completely misses the clarity of the substantive issue of the title of the article.
  
  The four Asians Tigers, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan that have consistently maintained high economic growth since the 1960s were led by highly intelligent and smart people with conviction of purpose. Besides the unbridled brilliance of the four Asian Tigers leaders, they all lived in abroad before coming home to assume office. Also the only common denominator of their stratospheric economic success is their continuity in office. South Korea's President, Dr. Syngman Rhee, who also led the country into independence in 1948 lived in exile in the United States before going back home to assume the Presidency, and was in office from 1948 to 1960 (12 years).
  
  Just like Singapore, South Korea is famous for its spectacular rise fom one of the poorest countries in the world to a developed, high-income country in just one generation.
  
  Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) of Singapore a very intelligent and astute lawyer was in office from 1959 to 1990 (31 years). LKY lived in Britain for years where he attained his law degree before going back home to become a leader. LKY is recognized as the nation's founding father, with the country described as transitioning from the "third world to the first world in a single generation" under his leadership.
  
  Nation building is all about the intelligence of those who lead. Our own Kwame Nkrumah governed with the so called "veranda boys" and yet achieved more than the combined governments that succeeded him. And that is the reason why JJ Rawlings ruled the country for 19 years and almost ran the country to the ground because he was a dunderhead and a blockhead. JA Kufuor was a blockhead and a thief; he had no conviction of purpose when he took office, and the least said about JD Mahama the better - he was a dud who should not have been allowed near the office he occupied. The only smart and intelligent leaders this country can boast of since independence are Kwame Nkrumah and Kofi Abrefa Busia. They don't make them like this anymore.
  
  But seriously Ghana cannot develop with these crop of leaders we have; stupid, timid, and incontinent buffoons. What Ghana needs is smart and intelligent leaders who have extensive foreign exposure; leaders who have lived extensively in western civilization and understand the western ways of doing things.
