ARII taking delivery of some wheelchairs
Agape Samaritan International (ASI), an international medical relief mission based in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA, has donated relief items worth eight hundred thousand Ghana Cedis to The African Rights Initiative International (ARII), a child-centred International Relief and Development Organization.
The donation made of medical supplies, educational materials and other supplies are to service deprived community health centres, polyclinics, specialized hospitals and public basic schools; to promote teaching and learning and bridge the healthcare gap in the country.
The items of medical supplies including wheel chairs, walking aids, bandages gauze and wound dressing packs, forceps, syringe, hospital beds, bicycles, clothes and shoes, school bags, books, toys among etc are intended to ease the health needs of over 10,000 people poor communities and 2,000 at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Kalba Health center at the Sawla-Kalba-Tuna District in the north, the Agbogba Anglican Basic Schools at the Ga East Municipality, Methodist Raffiki Village, at Gahadzie, Winneba, Donald Richard Children’s Home, Nakwabi in the north just to mention a few.
Mr. Alex Asiedu, Chairman of Atlantic Trust Holding Limited and Atlantic Holdings of Dubai expressed his utmost gratitude to the Agape Samaritan International (ASI) for their partnership in this project that seeks to empower people to work their way out of poverty, transform lives, future of children and the community at large.
He added that “partnerships like that of ASI provide a great opportunity to expand the scope of our programmes to reach several thousands of people, especially, children who are desperately in need support across the African Region.”
Mr. Asiedu stressed that “anytime we neglect the needs of the vulnerable in the society we risk the future stability of our Country. Poverty costs hugely and the earlier we calculated the impact in real life terms the better. We must always remember that we are not home until everyone is home. We are not safe until everyone is safe”.
Mr. Owusu Amoah a Director at ARII and CEO of the Atlantic Group added that ARII is committed to leading great sustainable and transformational change for Africa’s most vulnerable groups.
He said, “We are in an environment where we do not think about the social cost of poverty. If we measure poverty we’ll know that we need to fight it with all the strength and resources we have. As a continent we need to target and fight poverty in all its forms and that is what we are doing at ARII”.
He continued that "the focus of the African Rights Initiative International and its international development partner, the Atlantic Group, is to get people out of the poverty zone so that they can be better positioned to contribute meaningfully to national life".
