Abesim (B//A), June 25, GNA - The Abesim Eye Centre, shut down last year, is to be re-opened to the general public on July 15. A statement signed by Nana Adjei Ababio, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Peace Promotion Officer, said the centre would be operated under an interim management committee. The committee is composed of representatives of Abesim community, Anglican diocese of Sunyani, Sunyani Municipal Assembly, Municipal Health Directorate and the Regional Peace Council The IMC, which is expected to manage the centre until the Peace Council resolves, all matters relating to audit and corporate governance.
The statement said the centre was closed down over management and financial dispute between Abesim community and Anglican Diocese of Sunyani, who jointly own the centre.
"The IMC, within the next two months, is expected to manage the centre until the Peace Council finally resolves all other matters relating to auditing and corporate governance". The statement appealed to all stakeholders and workers of the centre to co-operate and assist the IMC to ensure its successful running in the interest of the general public.
The Council thanked the chiefs of Abesim and the authorities of the Anglican Diocese, as well as the Regional Coordinating Council for their support and co-operation so far and expressed optimism that similar support and co-operation would be forth-coming until the dispute is resolved.
