Accra Clocks Second In HIV/Aids War

THE GREATER ACCRA Regional Minister has disclose to news men and members of the public that currently the region is the second most infested in HIV AIDS cases and now place second in the whole country

Ibrahim Baidoo, Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive, in a speech read on behalf of the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Julius Debrah, during the 2013 aids day celebrations and walk at Ashiama charged the public to exhibit credible sexual habits needed to fight the pandemic in the country.

According to him, “Greater Accra is now the second region with the largest HIV/AIDS positive cases in Ghana”, a situation which he noted, “is of great concern to my administration.”

He commended hundreds of people including assembly members, religious leaders, and other social and opinion leaders who took part in the five-hour exercise and advised those in their reproductive ages to be extra careful about their sexual activities.

The Regional Minister counsel led dating couples to also either abstain completely from pre-marital sex or use condoms. He also asked couples to remain faithful to their partners to protect them from the disease.

Dr Michael Baidoo, Head of Disease at the Ghana Health Service (GHS) who represented Dr Linda Van-Otto, Regional Director of Health admonished the public to unite in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

He called for extra handwork to fight against stigmatization and discrimination through effective communication and education.
