Ajumako (C/R) Sept. 3 GNA-Plans are far advanced for the construction of a modern District Hospital to facilitate health delivery in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District of the Central Region.

The district is among twenty others that have no District hospital, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Kenneth Obimpong said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Ajumako on Thursday. He said the project, which would start in March 2007 would have laboratory, theatre wards and bungalows.

Mr. Obimpong said the project would be constructed by the Government with assistance from the Austria government but he did not mention the cost involved.

Mr. Obimpong expressed concern about lack of qualified medical doctors in the district, adding that a medical doctor posted to the area left for further training outside and has since not returned. He explained that the situation posed a big problem to the health needs of the people. He said the district Assembly has made provision for the training

of thirty nurses to support the health centres in the area. The District Chief Executive called on the people to register with the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme to ensure a happier and healthier way of living.
