Sheikh Dr Amin Bonsu, the Imam and National Chairman of the Ghana Muslim Mission, has donated herbal medicines valued at Gh¢10,000.00 to the James Camp Prison in Accra.

A statement to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday said the medicine included Amen Fever Mix, Amen Beauta Cream, Amen Soap and Amen stomamix.

According to the statement, Sheikh Dr Bonsu who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Amen Scientific Herbal Hospital, assured the Prison authorities that the medicines had gone through all the required processes and certification by the Food and Drugs Authorities (FDA), KNUST and other approved regulatory authorities to ensure their efficacy and safety for human use.

The statement noted that Sheikh made the donation because he was moved by the plight of the prisoners as well as the officers who took care of them.

ACP Asamoah Fenning, Officer-in-charge of the Prison, received the items on behalf of the inmates.

Sheikh Bonsu and his entourage were later conducted round the Prison to inspect rehabilitation programmes being undertaken by the authorities.

Areas visited included the shoemaking and doormat making shop and the poultry farm.

The team was so much overwhelmed by the prison inmates’ trade training activities and the quality of items being produced that they bought some of the items.

The CEO appealed to institutions, government officials and the public to patronize items produced by prisoners which are of high quality and also sold much cheaper as compared to the open market.
