Authorities at the Ankaful Leprosy and General Hospital are calling on government to move in to address some critical challenges hindering effective health delivery at the centre.

The challenges according to the hospital authorities range from encroachment of their lands to inadequate equipment and accommodation for both patients and staff at the facility.

The hospital lands for instance, they explained have been encroached by some individuals and estate developers making any future expansion of the hospital difficult.

Another thing that the authorities complain of is the absence of some critical staff to meet the increasing needs of patients especially those suffering from leprosy.

They are therefore calling on government to post more nurses and other specialists to the facility to address the staff deficit in delivering quality health care to the patients.

Speaking to Kasapa News’ Central regional correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour on the occasion of the commissioning of an ultra-modern Accident and Emergency Centre for the hospital built by an Italian NGO , the administrator of the hospital, Mr. George Asamoah, appealed to government to provide the hospital with good roads as the poor road at the facility makes it difficult transporting the sick to the hospital with many drivers refusing to risk their cars due to the poor road.

Mr. George Asamoah again appealed to government to support them with adequate wards to accommodate the increasing number of patients while again doubling up efforts in stopping the encroachment on their lands as even some people have turned the hospital land into a sand winning site thereby creating erosion problems for the hospital.
