Juaso (Ash), Sept.14, GNA-The Mutual Health Insurance Scheme in the Asante-Akim South district, one of the 40 districts selected to operate the scheme on pilot basis will take off in October, this year. Mr Owusu Kodua, District Manager of the Scheme who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Juaso said lack of logistics and the inaccessibility to most people who lived in remote areas culminated in the delay for the take off of the Scheme.
He said politicization of the Scheme also affected the registration exercise and measures were being put in place to intensify education of the people as part of preparations towards the commencement of the Scheme.
Mr Kodua said in spite of the challenges, they were making efforts to ensure that the scheme became operational next month. He said about 200 million cedis had been paid as premiums from 80,000 registered contributors.
