Staff of Asante Akim South District Office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) have received commendation for hard work and commitment to duty.
Mr. De-graft Forkuo, District Chief Executive (DCE), said they deserved praise for working extra hours to serve numerous clients, who besiege the office daily for the biometric health insurance registration.
He was presenting 50 plastic chairs and two canopies valued at GH¢ 3,300.00 to the scheme’s office to help provide some shade and comfort to people who visit daily to get their biometric data captured.
The introduction of the biometric insurance card has brought tremendous pressure on the district office as it is the only place, where card holders could register and have their cards renewed.
The situation is not being helped by the unreliable internet services, compelling the staff to work deep into the night.
Mr. Forkuo appealed to subscribers to show good understanding and to bear with the workers as they did their best to raise the quality of service.
The District Manager of the Scheme, Mr. Joseph Mensah, thanked the Assembly for the intervention and conceded that things had been really chaotic due to the high number of people they have been dealing with.
