Asokwa MP builds maternity block for K’si South Hospital

Madam Patricia Appiagyei NPP MP for Asokwa Constituency in Kumasi, has cut sod for commencement of an ultra-modern maternity block at the Kumasi South Hospital at Atonsu Agogo.

The huge edifice would cost a staggering GHC650,000, with the law maker personally coughing some of the cash needed as the well-to-do in the area would also be depended on to support for the completion of the project.

The state-of-the-art maternity block, would boast of amenities such as 40 beds, 40 baby courts, ultra-modern scanning, research room, offices for senior and junior doctors that work at the hospital.

The one-storey edifice, would also have amenities like nurses lounge and changing rooms, 15 wash rooms, isolated mother and baby unit ward and quarantine unit for special cases, among others.

The sod-cutting ceremony was attended by chiefs, opinion leaders, medical doctors and people from all walks of life in the constituency, who indeed feels happy about the project.

Addressing the gathering, Madam Appiagyei aka ‘Mama Pat’ said she had personally provided GH 150,000 as seed money to start the mighty project to help boost the medical healthcare at the hospital.

She said the down floor of the one-storey building is supposed to be completed in one-year time from now, urging NGOs, corporate entities and philanthropists in the constituency to support the project with cash.

Edmund Kyei, NPP Communications Director for Asokwa commended Mama Pat for her vision to transform the area in order to better lives of the people, citing the maternity block as a clear indication that the MP is development-oriented person.

He also appealed passionately to the various business entities, NGOs and well-to-do people in Asokwa to come on board by supporting the project so that it could be completed on time to enhance healthcare delivery at the hospital.

Edmund Kyei disclosed that the Asokwa MP is currently also constructing a modern football field with fence at Ahinsan, among other projects, noting that indeed the NPP MP was living up to expectation.
