Cape Coast, March 22, GNA - The Municipal Chief Executive of Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipality, the Rev Mrs. Veronica Essuman Nelson, has inaugurated a fully equipped medical centre worth about $100,000 for the people of Bando and its surrounding communities in the municipality.
The facility was financed by Medical Peace Foundation (MPF), a non-governmental organization from Korea and the Bando Traditional Council and the Assembly provided land and electricity. Equipment at the centre include an electrocardiograph, surgical operation table, stethoscopes, consultation beds, microscope, injection stand, diagnostic set, table top fridge, wheel chair and mattresses. Mrs Essuman Nelson expressed appreciation to MPF for the facility= .. Dr John Letsa, the Deputy Director of Clinical Care at the Regional Health Directorate, said qualified health personnel would be posted to the centre and appealed to people of the community to patronize it.
Mr Jongcheon Lee, the Director of External Affairs of the MPF, said the decision to set up a medical centre was to ensure improved health care in Ghana and Africa as a whole and that it has been pursuing that goal since it started its operations in Africa in 1993. He said meeting the medical needs of the people in the community and a well equipped medical centre was important to his organization and pledged the MPF' continued support in other areas to further strengthen the friendship between Ghana and Korea. Nana Afre Twako III, Chief of Abreshia, thanked the MPF and said a medical centre close to their doorstep would ensure that their medical needs were addressed and cautioned. 22 March 11
