Bole, Oct. 29, GNA - Bole District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme (BDMHIS) has registered 49,998 clients by the end of September this year.
Mr Mahama Felix Saaka, the Scheme Manager who announced this said it had mobilized 274.7 million cedis in premiums and paid 304 million cedis as medical claims for clients with about 8.6 million cedis being the highest amount paid to a client. Mr Saaka was receiving five kiosks constructed by the Bole District Assembly (BDA) valued at 13.5 million cedis for collectors of the scheme at Bole. It was a response to an appeal made by management of the scheme to the assembly to assist the scheme by providing kiosks for the collectors to ease the difficulties clients had to undergo to locate collectors for registration with the scheme.
He said the scheme had so far received about 1,435,944,635 cedis from the National Health Insurance Council, as staff salaries, administrative support and subsidy for the exempt groups of 70 years and above, SSNIT pensioners, children under 18 years, and indigents. Mr Saaka said the scheme recorded 923 SSNIT contributors, 10,772 clients under 18 years, 2,142 old aged and 154 indigents by the end of September this year.
He expressed appreciation to DANIDA Health Sector support for contributing towards the implementation of the scheme in the district with the provision of a Yamaha 100 motor bicycle, cash support of 64.5 million cedis.
It also provided technical support through organizing training workshops for staff of the scheme, health insurance community committee members, and training of the Board of Directors of the scheme. Mr Saaka however appealed to the organisation for bicycles for collectors in their communities to enable them reach out to all the people within the communities.
Mr Abdul Karimu, Bole District Deputy Co-ordinating Director, presenting the kiosks said the assembly had assisted the scheme with two computers and accessories.
He pledged the assembly's commitment to offer more assistance to the scheme and urged the scheme management team to give out their best to benefit many people. 29 Oct. 06
