Accra, July 16, GNA - As part of its social responsibility, the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) on Wednesday donated GH¢10,000 to the Postgraduate Endowment Fund of the College of Health Sciences. The money is meant to support research work of four postgraduate students of the College.

Speaking at the presentation, Mrs Alice Quarsie, Director of Human Resources of the COCOBOD, said the management acknowledged the good works of the College hence the need to complement its efforts. Mrs Quarsie noted that the company's interest in the health of Ghanaians started in the early 1970s when COCOBOD established the Accra Cocoa Clinic and the Mobile Clinics in all 10 regions to serve the public.

"We have not stopped the good works in the Health sector and now we have three other clinics in Kumasi, Tafo and Sankore. There are plans to put up even more," she added.

She called on all corporate bodies to come to the aid of the College in its bid to train and maintain health professionals for the country. Professor Aaron Lante Lawson, Provost, College of Heath Sciences said the creation of the College had helped to stem the exodus of medical practitioners adding that about 95 per cent of the College's graduates were practicing in the country with some specialists even moving into the districts. He thanked COCOBOD and called on other corporate bodies to do the same.
