Chereponi (N/R), Dec. 28, GNA - Mr Samuel Abdulai Jabanyite, the Mem= ber of Parliament for Chereponi, has presented two vehicles and seven motorbike= s to health centres and some institutions in the Chereponi Constituency. The Chereponi Polyclinic received a 15-seater Ford Van and the Wenchik= i Health Centre got a pick-up.
The seven institutions that took delivery of the motorbikes are the Chereponi District offices of the Ghana Immigration Service, The Revenue Authority Division of the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service, the Ghana Police Service, the National Commission for Civic Education and the Department of Births and Deaths. The rest are the veterinary Service and th= e Bunburiga School. Mr Jabanyite made the presentation at Chereponi during a durbar of the chief and people of the area for him to thank them for voting for him durin= g the 2009 by-election following the death of Doris Seidu, then New Patriotic Party MP.
The durbar was also to enable the MP to account for his stewardship an= d to assure the people of his determination to develop the constituency. Mr Jabanyite said he had so far spent some GH¢147,000 for developmen= t projects, which included the construction of a 3-unit classroom blocks each for the Tacheiku Gilma, Masawusi and Bukasu communities, construction of a boys' dormitory for the Chereponi Senior High School and construction of six-unit classroom blocks each at Asari, Waku and Konaka-bosu.
Other assistance to the district included the rehabilitation of teachers' accommodation, payment of school fees of needy students, construction of two dams and facilitated the supply of some 6,250 bags of fertilizer to farmers at subsidized prices.
Mr Jabanyite also facilitated the acquisition of 12 tractors, a plante= r and two shellers and had provided street lights to eight communities as wel= l as rehabilitation of the District Immigration Office and six broken down boreholes. He said apart from funds from his share of the District Assembly Commo= n Fund, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and the GETFund had also assisted in some development projects and appealed to the people for peace and unity for the prosperity of the district.
Mr Issah Abah, the District Chief Executive for the area, said the Assembly would continue to work with the MP and other development partners to ensure the rapid progress of the district. He commended the MP for the initiative and said the donation of the vehicles would improve healthcare delivery since the health institutions used to rely on the assembly for emergency cases.
Chereponi Feme (Chief) Jaminja Malba Gomna commended the MP for the development initiative saying, 93We have not regretted voting you as our choice to represent us in Parliament". He said though the district was very young this was the first time an individual had spearheaded improving conditions of the hospital and institutions.
Madam Sussana Kolajo, Chereponi District Director of Health Services, said 2010 was a resurrection year for the health sector since the donation came as a relief for the two health institutions. She also thanked the MP for the provision of 100 anti snake vaccines for the Chereponi Polyclinic.
Mr Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Communications, expressed gratitude to the MP for his efforts to develop the district and appealed to other DCEs t= o be innovative. He said DCEs whose activities undermined MPs risked loosing their jobs since such actions would not help the NDC to win the required parliamentary seats in 2012 to form the next government.
Mr Iddrisu pledged to help Chereponi to acquire a community radio and gave the assurance that extension of electrification to rural areas of the country would be continued in 2011 and that the government had secured 100 million dollars for the project.
