Accra, Oct. 16, GNA – The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) has appealed to the striking medical doctors to return to work and save lives.

It has also appealed to the appropriate bodies to ensure that labour issues are settled expeditiously so that the staff in the nation’s hospitals, schools and other sectors do not have to resort to strikes as a way of drawing attention to their grievances.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Council in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency.

The Council commended the Electoral Commission (EC) for holding a stakeholders' meeting of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) for transparent elections in 2012.

“This IPAC meeting will continue between the EC and other stakeholders in order to foster understanding and prepare the country for free, fair and transparent election in 2012,” the statement said.

It appealed to the EC to particularly facilitate the activities of the District Inter-Party Advisory Committee (DIPAC) for deeper understanding, involvement and appreciation of the electoral issues at the district level as well.

The statement also called on the public to pray for the nation and work towards unity, peace and progress.
