The new Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound
A new Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound, constructed at a cost of GH¢134,000.00 by the Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly, has been commissioned in Dadease, a farming community in the District.
The disability-friendly structure has an Out-Patients Department (OPD), Antenatal Care and Reproductive and Child Health Units, Detention Ward and Delivery rooms, among other units.
Mr Robert Ahomka-Lindsay, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, commissioning it at an impressive durbar at Dadease, reiterated government’s commitment to pursuing development projects for the wellbeing of the people, especially the ordinary citizenry at the local level.
The event was attended by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Samuel Addai Agyekum, other local government actors as well as chiefs, traditional leaders and community members.
Mr Ahomka-Lindsay assured the populace about government’s readiness to successfully complete the US$13 million Infusion (oxygen generation) factory under the One District, One Factory initiative under construction at Akotosu, a peripheral farming community near Dadease.
The Northern Star Ltd is the contractor responsible for the project, which has the capacity to employ 503 youth.
Mr Agyekum, on his part, said the provision of the CHPS compound was part of the Assembly’s bid to safeguard the health of the citizenry.
He urged the health personnel posted there to be patient with the community members as they worked to provide optimal healthcare to the community.
Mr Lawrence Adinku, the District Health Director, said eight health workers, comprising one physician assistant, two enrolled nurses, four community nurses and one mid-wife, had been posted to the health centre to commence work.
Nana Akua Akyaah Agyapomaa II, the Queen of Dasease, commended the Assembly and the Ahomka Foundation (TAF) for the gesture and pledged the Traditional Council’s support to ensure total patronage of the health facility by the community members.
The occasion was used to donate 50 mobility carts provided by the TAF, to be given to 50 Persons with Disability (PWDs), selected from across two districts.
A total of 186 mobility carts for PWDs has already been distributed countrywide with the beneficiary areas being; Cape Coast, the Central Regional Capital, Effia Nkwanta in the Western Region, Dormaa Central in the Bono Region and Sekyere Kumawu and Atwima Nwabiagya in the Ashanti Region.
Mr Ahomka Lindsay is the Patron of TAF.
