Doctor advises Muslims on HIV/AIDS

Techiman (B/A) Aug. 20, GNA - Dr. Mustapha Ofori, in-charge of the local Ahmadiyya Hospital has called on Muslims to guide themselves against the HIV/AIDS menace which has no cure.

He noted that Muslims should be the frontliners in the campaign against sexual abuse among the youth as enshrine in the Quran and the Bible, the latter which preaches against fornication.

Dr. Ofori made the call, while addressing over 200 Muslim members of the Islamic Mission Secretariat after they had embarked on a three-hour clean-up exercise at the hospital, as part of the 2nd National Youth camp meeting under the theme: "The Muslim Youth In Modern Education" at Techiman.

The youth weeded around the hospital compound, removed cobwebs and scrubbed floors at the hospital.

Dr. Ofori said Muslims played vital and important role in the national development and stressed the need for them to live lives worthy of emulation of emulation and above reproach. He asked other organizations and philanthropists to emulate the Islamic youth to inspire the spirit of volunteerism among the youth in society.

Sheik Anim Appeidu, vice national youth chairman of the Islamic Mission Secretariat stated that the Muslims were not limiting their activities in the teaching and preaching of the Quran but also engaged in the education of the environment and other anti-social vices. Sheik Appeidu therefore, charged the youth to give the needed respect to parents, as that was the true way of administering Islamic principles.

Mallam Seidu Deleka, Techiman Youth chairman of the Mission said the clean-up exercise would not be a nine-day wonder and that it would be periodically organised in some places of the municipality to clear filth.

Amongst those who took part in the exercise were Mallam Amadu Yahaya, Techiman Youth President of the Mission, who later offered special prayers to the sick at the hospital and the leadership of the country.
