Dr. Harold Ayetey, a senior lecturer at the Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, University of Cape Coast (UCC), who spoke on the topic: Educating Tomorrow Doctors” has advised Medical schools in Ghana to focus on training “efficient, compassionate and ethically driven sound Doctors.”

He made this assertion at the day-two seminar of GhanaWeb health forum, tagged “Improving the Quality of Healthcare Delivery and Patient Safety in Ghana,” which took place at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeon, in Accra.

Dr. Ayetey bemoaned the inability of Medical schools to train more medical students due to different degrees of limitations they all battle with in the area of equipment, human resource, among others.

He, however, charged accredited medical schools in the country to ensure that their students are highly equipped so as to enhance their outputs.

“They must enable new graduates to understand and commit to high personal and professional values; communicate effectively to patients, provide immediate care in medical emergencies, as well as understanding public health principles,” Dr Ayetey advised.
