Accra, March 5, GNA - The Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Unit at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, on Friday received state-of-the-art equipment for accurate, prompt diagnosis and treatment of ENT diseases. The equipment estimated at about GH¢20,000 was donated by the management of Tema Lube Oil Company Limited.

It includes sets of mini scissors, macro forceps, punch, telescope electoral cable systems and accessories for function endoscopic sinus surgery. Professor Nii Otu Nartey, Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital, receiving the equipment, said the items would be of enormous benefit to t= he Unit. He said the equipment were part of the accreditation requirements fo= r the Unit's specialist training in ENT, and the management of the Hospital=

had difficulty in purchasing them even with 50 per cent discount. Mr Richard Adu Poku, Director of Tema Lube Oil said the company recognized and appreciated the important role medical practitioners playe= d in the provision of quality health care and service delivery. He said Lube Oil was aware of the fire outbreak at the Unit that destroyed vital equipment required for quick diagnosis and treatment and deemed it as part of their social responsibility to assist the unit. Dr Emmanuel Kitcher, Head of the Unit expressed gratitude to the Lub= e Oil Company for the equipment.

He noted that it was frustrating that after training, the necessary equipment were not available to work with and added "but the equipment wo= uld enable us serve the patients efficiently and effectively". 5 March 10
