Mr George Freeman, Agona West Municipal Environmental Health Officer has urged the public to eat hot foods to avoid contracting cholera.

According to Mr Freeman eating cold foods is risky and one could contract cholera, diarrhea and other stomach complications from doing so.

Speaking to the Media at Agona Swedru on Monday, the Environmental Health Officer asked food vendors to stop selling cold foods to the public.

He cautioned the public to avoid too much handshakes at social gatherings, including funerals, church services, prayers and weddings, to avoid contracting cholera and diarrhea.

Mr Freeman warned the public against indiscriminate defecation and indiscriminate throwing of refuse.

The Environmental Health Officer said Ghanaians, especially those in coastal areas, often experience cholera outbreaks and diarrhea annually due to environmental pollution and other related issues.

Mr Freeman said his outfit would intensify its house-to house inspections, formerly known as “Asamansaman” as part of the measure to prevent the disease.
