Slowly becoming a global health epidemic, the prevalence of obesity has risen drastically over the past two decades.
According to experts, there are now about one billion people worldwide who are overweight or obese.
For most people, once health is affected by being obese, shedding weight is not a choice but a must.

Oye Lithur
Ghanaians were shocked when the new body size of the politician surfaced on social media. In a post on her social media pages, Oye Lithur revealed that she had been working with a personal trainer, Sean Guy and her weight has dropped from 159kg to 90.2kg - a decrease of 68.8kg.
The former Minister who has resolved to remain healthy advised followers on her facebook page to get a professional advice on dieting.
“I encourage you to get professional advice on which diet and medicine are good for you, be consistent and you will achieve your fitness goals. #OyeTalksFitness,” GhanaWeb monitored.
Nana Ama McBrown
Versatile screen goddess, Nana Ama McBrown, is one whose weight loss had been an amazing journey with the actress receiving positive compliments about her new size. Prior to her weight loss, she had expressed worry about her weight gain and body issues.
Nana attributes 99% of her weight loss to the Calorad pills, a product she was a brand ambassador of. She explained that she, “owes the pills the confidence levels I am experiencing right now.”
Jessica Opare Saforo
Radio presenter and voice over artiste, Jessica Opare Saforo joined the weight loss train about two years ago. According to Miss Saforo, her size was not reducing as expected days after embarking on the journey.
She later met a gentleman online who recommended the product, EZ Slim to help her speed up the process. She confessed that “once I started using EZ Slim, my weight fell off like that.”
OJ Blaq
Known in real life as Andy Alexander Nii Akrashie, OJ Blaq’s drastic weight loss was evident after he suffered stage four kidney failure, a disease that nearly claimed his life.
According to the ‘Chalewote’ hitmaker, alcoholism and smoking affected his health greatly.
In his words, “I was not hypertensive, I was not diabetic but I’ll say it’s a lifestyle. Too much alcohol, smoking, meat, and all that lifestyle did not help. And what I have understood is that wherever you are weak that’s where Satan uses to attack you,” he had told Citi FM.
The former Hiplife artiste who was signed with the record label, Lynx Entertainment, has switched to gospel music after his ordeal. He has resolved to live a healthy and fit life.
Joselyn Dumas
TV host and Ghanaian actress was not as peng as she looks today. She had, for a long time, battled with obesity. Then, one day she decided to shed off all the fat in order to be fit.
She shared on her twitter page, pictures of her weight loss journey. She posted this inspiring message.
“She believed she could, so she did” Don’t be ashamed to tell your story, it will inspire others.”
Kurl Songz
His was an unexpected come back after he disappeared from the music scene for a long time. The former thick and tall musician’s new appearance spark worry among his fans and social media users when he posted a photo of himself on Instagram.
Musician Mzbel even joined fans in asking Kurl Songx about his new look. She commented under the post: “Oh wow did you lose weight or filter?” The Jennifer Lomotey hitmaker responded: “yeah Mabel babe.”
Asem
After back to back hits on the Ghanaian music scene, Asem left many to wonder about his whereabouts considering his long silence. Many attributed his silence to ill-health.
The rapper, however, in a Facebook post said he is in the best shape of his life. In the post, the 'Bye Bye' hit singer laughed off the rumours, saying his drastic weight loss was deliberate.
According to Asem, he had taken to a healthy lifestyle of exercising and dieting.
