Finatrade Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the Finatrade Group of Companies has paid the entire medical bill of GH¢5,000.00 for the treatment of two year-old, Bright Agyapong diagnosed with a bilateral eye swelling.

According to the father, Joseph Agyepong, the swelling has made it impossible for the boy to see and his condition kept worsening by the day.

Finatrade's payment of the amount followed, a letter they received from the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital signed by Dr. Laryea on behalf of Dr. Segbefia, the consultant haemoncologist, that little Agyepong was admitted to the hospital on March 10, 2015 with a bilateral eye swelling of five months duration.

The letter explained that “he cannot see with the right eye and investigation showed that, the eye has been affected with a type of cancer diagnosed as neuroblastoma acute myeloid leukemia or retinoblastimo."

It added that the cost of further investigations on his case would be GH¢3,000.00 and the treatment would cost GH¢ 2,000.00.

Making the presentation at the Finatrade Office in Accra, Mr John Awuni, Executive Secretary of the Foundation, said they decided to foot the entire bill to ensure that the little boy recovered fully from his ailment.

He said under the circumstances, the Foundation realized that a timely intervention was necessary to reverse the situation to save the sight of little Agyepong.

Mr Awuni said since the Foundation was established about a decade ago, it had supported vulnerable individuals and groups in society.

“We have special interest in supporting such needy people because; a life saved could possibly become a corner stone for the nation in the near future”, He added.

The Executive Secretary said it was the wish of the Foundation that little Agyepong recovered fully to enable him to have the best of life and contribute his quota to mother Ghana in future.
