Authorities at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital have warned that the hospital is likely to experience food shortage in the coming days due to the unavailability of funds to restock.
The facility recently suspended the admission of patients because of the shortage of food.
According to the management, they also lack the funds needed to undertake critical ventures to ensure the safety and care of the mentally challenged patients.
The hospital now relies on benevolent institutions for the day to day running of the facility. A member of the hospital’s PR team and a senior nurse, Francisca Ntow told Starr News that the remaining food stuff will not last for long.
“We went around appealing to people and what we have was brought in solely from benevolent Ghanaians. We also appealed to the ministry and they also tried to organize some food stuffs for us but what we have now won’t last for long”.
