Ghana records 13 new mpox cases, total infections rise to 670

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed 36 new cases of Mpox, increasing the country’s total number of infections to 670, as of October 1, 2025.

The latest update was shared on the social media page of the GHS on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

"Mpox Update as of October 1, 2025, 13 new cases recorded, bringing the total confirmed cases to 670," the post read.

The Service also announced that three deaths have so far been recorded, with one patient currently on admission and urged the public to maintain good personal hygiene and to report immediately to a health facility if they experience any symptoms associated with the disease.

"Protect yourself and others by maintaining good hygiene and reporting any symptoms such as fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills and tiredness," the post added.

According to the World Health Organisation,(WHO) Mpox spreads primarily through close contact with infected persons. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, and skin rashes.
