Accra, June 23, GNA - Management Sciences for Health (MSH), a global leader in public health, would hold an international public health conference from June 24-30 in Accra, to foster global collaboration and knowledge sharing.

The conference under the theme: "Maximizing Health Impact", is expected to bring together a diverse team of global leaders in public health. The participants include; the leadership team of MSH and the Country Operating Management Unit (COMU).

COMU is designed to decentralise the core functions of the project offices of MSH.

A release issued in Accra on Wednesday by Professor Issakha Diallo, Project Director of AWARE II, an MSH project in Ghana, said more than 60 MSH leaders from 15 countries were expected to attend the conference. Prof Diallo said: "The conference would strive to address key external trends and challenges that impact on MSH's work; build a shared commitment and concrete actions to strengthen and increase country presence, and also mobilise global talent to be technically responsive and to communicate the 'so what' of our work".

MSH's vision for the delivery of quality, integrated health services in every kind of location, whether remote or urban, is based on the needs of clients and providers alike.

It works with local partners to ensure that all the necessary elements are in place to enable providers consistently deliver vital health services to clients day after day - from household to the hospital - and throughout the life cycle of care.

MSH has helped partners in many countries to meet the health needs of individuals, families, and communities in a sustainable way, and at a scale that achieves wide health impact.

Its expertise falls into the broad categories of management functions which are applied through partnership with governments, local organisations, and communities in developing nations to build capacity for long-term health impact.

"It also provides global leadership in critical areas of health management and health care delivery; and bringing the best of MSH from around the globe to the people it serves, working as one MSH with a focus on lasting health system improvements," Prof. Issakha said.

MSH is an international non-profit organisation based in the United States, dedicated to closing the gap between what is known and what is done about major problems in public health in developing nations. It takes an integrated approach to building high-impact sustainable programmes that addresses critical challenges in leadership, health systems management, human resources, and medicines. MSH supports stronger health systems for greater health impact. 23 June 10
