Gomoa demarcated into 46 zones for accessible health delivery

Gomoa Osedze (C/R), Sept. 12, GNA - The Gomoa District Directorate of the Ghana Health Service has demarcated the District into 46 Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) zones to make health care delivery more accessible to the people.

Miss Patricia Antwi, District Director of Health Service announced this at the inauguration of Gomoa Osedze CHPS compound bringing to five the number of zones compounds inaugurated in the District. The others are located at Ngyiresi, Potsin, Fetteh and Tarkwa. Miss Antwi explained that the Ghana Health Service had adopted the CHPS concept as an important avenue for extending health care to the doorsteps of the people and called for full participation of the people in the communities towards the success of the concept. The District Health Director expressed gratitude to the CHPS Technical Assistance (TA), the Danish Embassy and the Gomoa District Assembly for their support for the CHPS concept. She appealed to the people to register with the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme to enable them to access affordable health services.

Ms Joyce Mildred Aidoo, District Chief Executive, expressed gratitude to the European Union (EU) for funding the construction of the compound.

She advised the people to practice good environmental sanitation to avoid contracting diseases induced by unhygienic conditions. The DCE urged pregnant women to avail themselves of antenatal services to prevent maternal deaths.

Mr Edmund Osei Kwakye, District Disease Control Officer, urged the communities to give their cooperation and support to health personnel posted to the compound to encourage them to work harder and more efficiently.

The Osedze zone is made up of five communities.
