The Ga West Municipal Assembly has completed another hospital at Ofankor in the Greater Accra Region awaiting furnishing and inauguration to improve healthcare delivery in the area.

The facility has departments like dental, physiotherapy, X-Ray, laboratory, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) unit, maternal and child healthcare, which would complement the services provided by the Amasaman District Hospital.

Mr. Sam Atukwei Quaye, Municipal Chief Executive of the Ga West Municipal Assembly, made this known at the first ordinary meeting of the first session of the fourth Assembly of the Ga West to review the 2015 year of the health sector of the Municipality.

He said: "There is nothing more important than good health and therefore the Assembly is striving to improve the infrastructural level of the healthcare delivery in the area."

Mr. Quaye noted that during the year under review, expanded infrastructural works were undertaken to wall the Amasaman District Hospital to ward off encroachers, particularly hawkers whose activities constituted a nuisance to the facility.

“The Hospital has witnessed expansion of office facilities and the construction of the first phase of the accident and emergency unit which has been completed,” he said.

Mr. Quaye said the Municipality had also benefited from the largesse of the Anglican Church, Accra Diocese, which has provided the people of Pokuase and surrounding communities with a clinic.

“The Kotoku, Amarmoley and Kojo Ashong clinics are also to receive upgrading with maternity units to enhance service delivery, while a CHPS compound started in September and funded by the District Assemblies’ Common Fund to serve the people of Ahiabukorpe and surrounding communities is about 70 per cent complete.”

The MCE commended the Municipal Health Directorate for their untiring efforts at providing quality healthcare to the people and called on the community members to support the staff to facilitate their work.
