Hajia Alima renovates Accra Psychiatric Hospital Women’s Infirmary Ward

The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima, has given a facelift to the Women’s Infirmary Ward of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.

The Minister fixed hanging roofs at the ward, replaced old louvres with new ones, and renovated the washrooms to give it a more sanitised touch.

She also replaced rusty fans at the ward with new ones, in addition to painting the entire ward, all at a cost close to GH¢20,000 from the Minister’s personal resources.

Speaking at a short ceremony at the hospital’s premises to hand over the refurbished ward, Hajia Mahama explained she was touched by a report from Joy News on the poor state of the ward, and decided to lend a support to put it in good shape.

She explained that she consequently got in touch with some artisans to begin renovation works at the ward.

According to Hajia Alima, she decided to hand over the refurbished ward last Friday, November 17, 2017, which happens to be her 60th birthday, to enable her celebrate her day with nurses and inmates of the ward.

In the company of some staff from her ministry and family members, she joined nurses and inmates to mark her birthday.

She promised to get in touch with some of her well-to-do friends in order for them to also come to the aid of the hospital.

Deputy Director of Nursing at the hospital, Beatrice Nyarko thanked the Minister for the kind gesture.

She promised the Minister that the refurbished ward will be kept clean and in good condition at all times to encourage other philanthropists to come to the aid of the hospital.
