Mampong (Ash), Jan 29, GNA - With the introduction of nationwide health insurance schemes, an appeal has been made to health care providers to re-double their efforts towards the delivery of improved services.

Dr. Emmanuel Ahiable, The Medical Superintendent of Asante Mampong District Hospital, who made the appeal on Friday at Mampong, said the success of the insurance schemes would largely depend on high professionalism and commitment of health workers.

Dr. Ahiable was addressing a durbar organized for the staff of the hospital to encourage regular interactions, sharing of ideas and free flow of information among the workers.

He reminded the workers that under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Scheme Administrators would expect prompt, accurate and reliable information on their clients from service providers. Besides, he said patients on the other hand would expect that the information they give to health workers for medical purposes were secured.

Dr. Ahiable said in view of this, nothing less would be expected of health workers than efficient and timely service delivery that would meet the needs of the insurers, patients and the health institutions. He thus, urged workers of the hospital not to let management down, pointing out that the success of the Sekyere-West District Health Insurance Scheme would depend on them.

Dr. Ahiable said management would maintain an open policy that would enable workers to contribute towards measures to improve working conditions, delivery of quality services and client provider flow of information.

He used the forum to update the knowledge of workers on the Additional Duty Allowance (ADHA) and also addressed their concerns. Dr. Ahiable appealed to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the Sekyere-West District Assembly to join hands to find ways to improve upon facilities at the Mampong Hospital, which he said, was the biggest District Hospital in the Ashanti Region. 29 Jan 06
