Begoro (E/R), Feb. 10, GNA - Staff of Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the Fanteakwa District have complained about low participation of the community in their activities and this is not helping to promote their desire to provide better health service to the community. This came to light during the annual performance review meeting of the District Directorate of GHS on Thursday at Begoro. Ms Margaret Asare, Deputy District Director of Health Services, said low community participation in health delivery programmes was affecting efforts at extending health services to many communities in the district.

This came to light during the annual performance review meeting of the District Directorate of GHS on Thursday at Begoro. Ms Margaret Asare, Deputy District Director of Health Services, said low community participation in health delivery programmes was affecting efforts at extending health services to many communities in the district. She expressed her appreciation about the drop of the district from the second position to fourth position in the nationwide HIV/AIDS prevalence survey carried out last year. Ms Asare said even though the performance of the district was encouraging, more needed to be done to further reduce the spread of the disease in the district. She complained about the upsurge of teenage pregnancy in the district and urged the district assembly to come out with reliable policies to control the situation. The District Chief Executive, Mr Ebenezer Ofoe Caesar, commended health staff in the district for their dedication and devotion to duty despite problems they encounter in the discharge of their services. 10 Feb 08
