Atwima-Techiman (Ash), Sept 6, GNA - Sheik Ameen Bonsu, Managing Director of Ameen Scientific Herbal Clinic, has stated that herbal medicine has a bright future and big role in the country's health care delivery. He said, however, that this could be realised only when herbal medicine practitioners are proactive and attach importance to the promotion of herbal medicine.

Sheik Bonsu stated this when he conducted newsmen round a new herbal treatment centre he has constructed at Atwima-Techiman in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma district of Ashanti on Tuesday.

The centre built at the cost of over one billion cedis comprises a production department, a control laboratory where the efficacy and potency of herbs are tested, massaging rooms, male and female wards and a library.

He disclosed that he was undertaking more research into plant medicine in collaboration with the Institute of Alternative Medicine based in the country and other institutions in Japan and Germany. Sheik Bonsu cautioned against sexually active men using drugs to enhance their sexual performances and said the practice could be harmful to those who practice it.

He asked people to watch their diets and also urged women to constantly examine their breasts for the early detection of any unusual nodules on their breasts for treatment.

Sheik Bonsu also asked people to report early symptoms of any sexually transmitted disease for treatment.
