Honianu (W/R), Dec. 26, GNA - An appeal has gone to the Ministry of Health to rehabilitate the Honianu health centre in the Wassa West District, which was completed for the community about seven years ago and abandoned soon after.

As a result, sick people including pregnant women had to travel to Tarkwa, which is more than 30 kilometres away to seek medical attention. Mr Christian Nyarko, alias uncle Ebo an opinion leader told the Ghana News Agency at Honianu on Saturday that the situation was creating a lot of hardships for the people, who are predominantly farmers. He said the condition of the facility, which has never been put to use since its completion has started to deteriorate. The community has no school and children had to walk over long distances to attend school in neighbouring communities. Mr Nyarko said this was adversely affecting the education of children from the community.

He, therefore, appealed to the district assembly and stakeholders to help provide the community with a school. He also appealed for the provision of potable water and electricity to enhance the lives of the people. 05
