Cape Coast, March 18, GNA- The National Focal Person for HIV/AIDS at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Mr Godwin Monor, on Wednesday reiterated the need for all Ghanaians to regard HIV/AIDS as a public health issue. He said the disease, was like malaria or any other kind of disease and it was therefore, unfortunate that some people attribute the disease to witchcraft.

Mr Monor made the call when the Service organised a screening exercise for HIV/AIDS and other diseases like hypertension, diabetes and tuberculosis for its staff and other workers in the ministries block in Cape Coast.

He therefore, called on people to voluntarily go to be tested in order to know their status, since that is the only way for everyone to lead a healthy life, adding that, the health status of every individual was important and should not be taken for granted. He gave the assurance that the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and the Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GCNET) which are supporting the exercise will support any staff member who is infected by HIV/AIDS and assured them of confidentiality.
