An Italian Non-Governmental Organisation, operating in the country, has funded the construction and inauguration of a 100,000 US dollar community-based Health Planning and Service (CHPS) compound at the Jaway border, near Half Assini.
This brings to 12 the number of CHPS compounds in Jomoro District.
Inaugurating the facility at Jaway Wharf, the Jomoro DCE, Mr Sylvester Daddieh, expressed gratitude to the NGO for the facility, which he said, would complement the Assembly’s effort at providing quality healthcare services to its citizenry.
He said the district was located at a strategic area to Cote d’Ivoire, thus requiring more of such facilities.
Mr Daddieh stated that under the NDC government’s “Better Ghana Agenda” quality health delivery was being brought to the door steps of the people, hence the provision of CHPS across the country.
He commended the contractor, Blay Morkeh Enterprise, the Assembly’s Technical Team, and the Ghana Health Service, for their quick execution of the project.
The DCE also commended the chief of Jaway, Nana Ewire Kwame VI, for releasing land for the project.
Dr Giada Namer, ENni Foundation Project Coordinator, who was at the programme, said the ceremony marked the beginning of the foundation’s plan to provide numerous health delivery packages outlined for the district.
She mentioned that similar projects were to start immediately at Fawoman, Twiako near Elubo, while renovation works would be carried out on the Ekebaku and Tikobo Number One Health Centres, and the Half Assini Government Hospital.
The Acting District Health Director, Mr. Joseph Kwame Sampson, in a welcoming address, said CHPS was a strategy to improve access to healthcare for the people.
The chief of Jaway, who chaired the ceremony, thanked the NGO for its kind gesture.
He said the facility would promote quality health delivery to both people of the area and in Cote d’Ivoire.
