Jacob’s Well Appeal Ghana, a charitable Non-Governmental Organisation, has presented assorted medical equipment and consumables worth over 100,000 pounds sterling to the 37 Military Hospital.
The items include beds, stretchers, wheel chairs, personal protective equipment, orthopedic clutches and accessories, hygiene products, medicines and medical disposals.
Ms Sandra Scantlebury, Country Director, said 37 Military Hospital was chosen because it had huge responsibility to help the country prepare for the Ebola virus should the unforeseen happen.
She said the items, the second in a series, was the organisation's quota in support of the hospital to get prepared to prevent the virus from spreading to Ghana.
Ms Scantlebury said aside healthcare, disaster preparedness and humanitarian duties, the organisation was also into agricultural services and education and pledged its commitment to assist medical institutions and other agencies to reach out to people in need.
“We provide agricultural tractor services to rural farming groups as well as inputs to encourage mechanise farming and, thereby, ensure food security in Ghana,” she added.
Col. Samuel Adjei, Commanding Officer at 37 Military Hospital, commended Jacob’s Well Appeal Ghana for the items.
He said: “For the fact that this is the second time they are presenting to us in a short interval shows their commitment to promoting health delivery services in Ghana and other establishments”.
