A day’s sensitization workshop on the dreaded haemorrhagic viral Ebola fever has been held for students of the Juaso Senior High School (SHS) amid stepped-up national preparations to deal with any unexpected outbreak.
The programme was meant to provide the students with adequate information about the disease and what to do to keep them safe.
It was jointly put together by the District Health Directorate and the management of the school.
Dr. Eugene Aboagye, Medical Superintendent of the Juaso District Hospital, said it was important for all to remain on the alert and to report any symptoms to the health facilities.
He counseled the people to adopt the habit of thoroughly washing their hands with soap and to avoid handshakes.
Since there is not yet any known cure for Ebola - the deadliest disease known to affect humans, the right, sensible and safest thing to do is to take protective measures.
More than 3,400 people have died since the disease hit some countries in the West Africa sub-region in January, this year, and there appears to be no sign that it is going to be rolled back any time soon.
Mr. Joseph Adasi, the Headmaster, described the programme as useful and urged the students to share the information with their peers, families and other people in their communities.
