Kumasi, Dec. 30, GNA - Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi on Friday said the hospital was certain to achieve its vision of becoming a Centre of Excellence by 2008.
He said with the current spate of infrastructural development coupled with the installation of modern machines and equipment as well as the upgrading of skills of staff and recruitment of new requisite and specialists, the hospital was poised to be counted among the best hospitals in the world.
Dr Nsiah-Asare made the observation in an interaction with some senior journalists in Kumasi.
He said the hospital would establish a cardiothoracic centre next year while plans were far advanced for the establishment of Neuro-surgical Unit and a training centre for Radiologists and Radiographers.
The Chief Executive Officer of KATH said the Trauma Centre, which was under construction, would be completed by 2008, adding 93Management is now thinking of a medical tourism project where all diseases would be treated."
Dr Nsiah-Asare said the objective was to offer specialists care and in addition become a training centre for young doctors and other health professionals in the country.
He said the hospital had embraced the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and currently most of its patients were insured. Dr Nsiah-Asare commended the media for their continued support that had promoted the image of the hospital and projected its vision and aspirations to the people.
