Kasapreko supports Sanitation Day Campaign

Dr Kwabena Adjei, Managing Director (MD) of Kasapreko said the company has commenced a €500,000 waste water treatment project which will treat waste water in the company factory before discharging into drains.

He said the project will help preserve the aqua system and the recycled waste water would be use in toilets and watering of lawns, leading to the creation of jobs for more Ghanaians.

Dr Adjei made this known to Mr Julius Debrah, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development when he paid a courtesy call on the MD and the MD of SG-Ghana to solicit their support towards the National Sanitation Day campaign instituted for the first Saturday of each month.

He said the gesture was part of the company’s contribution in ensuring a safe and clean environment within which it operates since ‘cleanliness is next to Godliness’.

Dr Adjei said over the years the company has attached great importance to the environment and it was working diligently to ensure that the immediate environment was always clean for business and other purposes.

The company donated an amount of GH?30, 000.00, 10 wheel barrows, 10 shovels, 10 rakes, 10 boxes of hand gloves and nose masks respectively to the Minister in support of the campaign.

Mr Gilbert Hie, MD SG-Ghana said the bank believes in Corporate Social Responsibility in all its aspects, be it economic, or environmental.

He said upholding this responsibility means respecting each of the commitments that the bank undertakes and that Society Generale Ghana aims to be a reference point in the Ghanaian Banking industry by adopting a responsible attitude and incorporating social and environmental considerations into the business practices.

Mr Debrah said the Ministry was partnering public and private institutions to increase public awareness on the National Sanitation Day (NSD) Campaign.

The partnership is aimed at promoting collaborative efforts among the MLGRD and private sector to collectively put innovative ideas together to ensure the success of the Clean Ghana agenda through services.

Mr Debrah said the campaign was to promote the change of attitude of the citizenry in the areas of sanitation, environmental health and the disposal of garbage.

He said the MLGRD has signed an agreement with the leadership of the National Service Scheme to deplore 50,000 service personnel nationwide to help in the cleaning-up exercise on the set days.

He noted that going by the lessons learnt after the maiden NSD exercise, it was time to get other stakeholders involved in the project for diverse views to be adopted and used in helping to make the initiative a success.

The Minister said Ghana has been ranked among the bottom 10 dirty countries by the United Nations Sanitation Report and that the Ministry was putting in much more efforts to step-up its way of sanitation control.
