Staff of the Koforidua Regional Hospital, has organised a three- hour float throughout the principal streets of Koforidua, to create awareness on the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the hospital.
Speaking to the media, the Acting Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Cardinal Newton said the hospital is celebrating 90 years of medical excellence and health care of the hospital.
He said during the 90 years history of the hospital, it has achieved a lot for the people of Eastern Region in health care delivery and had also won a number of national awards.
Dr Newton said, the awards won by the hospital included best regional hospital in the country, best HIV counselling centre and the best HIV treatment site in the country.
He said, the hospital has one of the best electronic records system, eye centre, laboratory services and others in the country.
Dr Newton said as part of the celebration, the hospital would organise medical outreach to some of the communities in the New Juaben Municipality, as well as health screening and presentation of gifts to the Koforidua School for the Deaf.
He said the hospital staff would donate to the blood bank of the hospital on July 1, and extend invitation to individuals and organisations to come and support the laudable exercise.
Mr Newton said, the hospital would climax the celebration with an awards night and thanksgiving service in December and appealed for public support to make the anniversary a memorable one.
